Courage, love & adventure - the gifts of travel.

Oh for the love of adventure, exploring and travel! I have been exploring our beautiful planet since the age of 17, mostly solo, and am grateful for all the opportunities, experiences, memories and friendships that travel and adventure have given me!

When sharing with people that I, Dr. Kayli Manner, as a female have travelled by myself to some pretty extraordinary places solo, gone hiking and camping on the weekends solo, or when I meet people while traveling solo - people typically have two reactions:

"You went by yourself?! OMG you're so brave" or "That is so awesome!"

And here lies our core emotional patterns: fear or love.

Without a doubt there have been moments on my travel adventures that I have been in fear, like when I was held in a random shed at the airport in the Phillipines, with other travellers so that we would miss our connecting flights. Or when in an earthquake in Bali on the top floor of a dodgy building, following huge floods in Cambodia and nearly getting fully electrocuted in Thailand all on the same trip (I think it was time to go home) there certainly was moments of fear and stress surging through me.

But there has also been so so so many experiences that have filled me with joy, love and a true sense of freedom that out weigh anything that holds me back from traveling. Life gives us experience to allow us to grow, to feel and to choose how we respond.

We always have the option: Do I choose love or fear?

Love expands us, it opens us up to seeing the world as infinite opportunities, allows us to accept what is happening in our life, even if we don't enjoy it, and increases our vibrational field. Feelings of gratitude, love, compassion, joy, freedom, acceptance and happiness vibe with "love."

Or there is fear, anger, resentment, frustration, sadness and worry that can chaos and fog our experiences. We definitely need to feel these emotions for they are important to our mere survival. For example: If I come across a snake on a hike, I would definitely like my fear and stress response to kick in, allowing adrenalin to surge through my body so I can run away pretty darn quick! However, we need to be careful that we don't get stuck on the fear train, which can be challenging in the world that we live in today. We are fed negative news stories, we are faced with other people's opinions, our bodies are wired up with stress and lets face it - the world is getting pretty hectic, but we have a choice!

Choose love or fear...

What would love do?

What would fear do?

What will I do?

I could have chosen fear from day one to not have travelled by myself to Greece; or have chosen fear and stayed in my comfort zone with my close Uni friends and family (that I miss dearly) in Canada; or could have not gone camping solo and had missed out on the star gazing, epic views and incredible sunrises and sunsets that fill me up so much!

So I invite you... Choose courage, choose love, take the leap of faith out of your comfort zone for that is where the real adventure is. Choose to do what is right for you, choose to do what fills your soul and choose to ask what would love do?

Thank you travel, thank you nature and thank you adventure for I would not be who I am today without it all!
